After years of patrolling some of the seediest city areas in Grimton City, police detective Joel has become quite cynical. Dylan is an elf with a shady past, but now he dedicates his life to his shelter that helps magical folks in need.
When a case involving stolen elfin coins leads Joel to Dylan, it’s the beginning of a relationship neither man ever dreamed possible, and a danger neither suspects.

When Dylan learned that a friend had robbed his apartment he decided not to alert the police. The stolen money had come from a charity drive for the shelter he ran for magical people in need, and unfortunately the thief was a young man he’d rehabilitated. Correction. Thought he’d rehabilitated. Cass had done so well since he’d severed his ties with his tricktus suppliers on the streets of Grimton City. Tricktus powders enhanced magical abilities and provided temporary ones while at the same time destroying the user’s physical body.
For months Cass held down a regular job in a greenhouse as he developed his talent for working with magical plants. It shouldn’t have come as a shock to Dylan that he’d slipped back to his old ways. Sometimes it took several tries for people to overcome their addictions, but Cass had done so well that Dylan had hoped he’d be different.
Dylan’s roommate, Antjuan, had been furious about Cass robbing their apartment. Yet Dylan knew much of that fury was because he felt just as badly about Cass’s relapse.
After finishing his shift that evening, Dylan walked to his apartment above the shelter. He could scarcely believe it had been fifteen years since he’d opened the shelter right in the heart of Grimton City, one of the most populated areas along Hot River. That river flowed through and connected the magical world. Hidden from outsiders, human and non-human magic users mingled in the world of Hot River.
Unfortunately not everyone with supernatural gifts used their powers responsibly. Sometimes misuse was intentional and other times it wasn’t. Like everyone else, magical people had their share of problems. Dylan knew that firsthand. Problems had driven him from the homeland of his Elfin ancestors. Making a place for himself outside of the only world he’d ever known hadn’t been easy. Once he’d gotten his life together, he decided to open the shelter to help others. Maybe that had been his purpose all along. He was proud of the work he’d done and pleased with the friends he’d made, friends who had become like family.
Thoughts of his friends, specifically Cass and Antjuan, filled his thoughts today. He couldn’t help worrying about Cass in particular. Though his day hadn’t been any busier than usual, he felt emotionally drained. By the time he finished climbing the stairs and unlocked the door to his apartment, he decided not to bother cooking dinner.
What he needed more than food was a long, hot shower and a short nap to clear his head.
He was surprised to find the apartment empty. Usually after finishing work at his dance studio, Antjuan stopped home, even if to change his clothes or eat dinner. Maybe he decided to practice later than usual. With a dance contest coming up at the end of the month, he’d been quite busy. He knew Antjuan had been upset about Cass reverting to his old ways. Antjuan seemed to identify with the boy, perhaps saw himself as a wayward youth. No matter what he’d promised Dylan about leaving Cass alone, Antjuan wouldn’t let the young man off the hook so easily.
In the kitchen, Dylan drank some iced tea then he walked to his bedroom and undressed. He decided that after he took a shower he’d call Antjuan’s studio and find out if he was still there.
It felt good standing under the stream of warm water. Dylan braced his hands against the tile, letting the water soak his elbow-length black hair. Beads of moisture dripped from his neatly trimmed, silky goatee and trickled over his body. He closed his eyes for a moment then opened them and reached for a bottle of herbal shampoo. Though he had relinquished the elfin habit of shaving his beard, he’d kept the customary long hair. He knew his black mane was one of his best features, or so he’d been told. By elfin standards, his features were considered too harsh to be traditionally handsome.
After Dylan finished washing, he stepped out of the shower and reached for a towel. He’d just started drying off when someone pounded on his door. Muttering under his breath, he wrapped the towel around his waist and walked down the hall, leaving wet footprints on the wooden floor.
The pounding continued and he shouted, “Who is it?”
“The police,” replied a stern, masculine voice.
Dylan’s stomach clenched. Why were the police at his door?
“Open up,” the cop ordered.
Had something happened downstairs at the shelter? An accident involving Antjuan, or maybe his cousin Shane, who ran a nearby shop with his wife?
Not even considering that he was wearing nothing but a towel, Dylan opened the door. He scarcely had time to glance at the tall, bald guy with hawkish features before his unexpected visitor shoved him into the apartment and forced him face-first against the wall, his arms twisted behind his back. He felt the cool, hard handcuffs snap on his wrists and Dylan’s heart pounded with pure rage and a hint of fear.
“What the hell is going on?” Dylan snapped.
“By order of the Grimton City Safety Department you are ordered to be taken for questioning.”
“For what? What’s the charge?”
“No formal charges at this time.”
“Who the hell are you anyway? Where’s your ID?” Dylan probably should have asked for that before opening the door. With all the shady people he’d dealt with over the years, he should have had more common sense than he’d just showed moments ago.
“Detective Joel Tristan.” He tugged Dylan away from the wall and held a round steel badge in front of his face. “Tell me where your pants are.”
“My pants?”
“Unless you want me to take you in wearing the towel.”

Werewolves Storm and Jason Knight have worked as escorts for Executive Decisions for years. Sometimes they work together, sometimes separately, but both have an unbreakable “no sex” clause. Not that they’re averse to sex -- unless it’s with each other -- they just want to save themselves for one woman. And not just any woman.
A chauffeur for Executive Decisions, Aurora’s tired of seeing all these wealthy women going out with men they’d never even met. It just doesn’t seem fair that she works for a company specializing in getting women dates when she can’t get one for herself.
Now, she’s stuck chauffeuring the sexy werewolf pair to their latest retreat with some two-bit tart. Life is so unfair!
Imagine her surprise when she’s stranded in a blizzard in the rugged Alaskan wilderness with none other than Storm and Jason Knight. It’s cold outside, but in their tiny cabin things are about to heat up…

“May I speak to Storm or Jason Knight?” Aurora’s heart pounded. It always did when she had to call the sexy werewolf brothers. She knew very well she was talking to Storm Knight. She just needed the few extra seconds to compose herself. He had the sexiest voice. The man would have no problem literally talking her out of her panties.
“Aurora Snow.” Storm chuckled softly. “Why do you always pretend you don’t know who you’re talking to?”
She had to clear her throat to keep from squeaking. She’d talked with one or both of these men on a weekly basis for the last six years, and they still got to her. “Just trying to be polite. Your plane will be ready in half an hour. I’ll pick you up in ten minutes.”
“We’re eagerly awaiting your gracious transportation, gorgeous.” She could almost see him winking at her. Both pack brothers were exceedingly playful, but this went beyond friendly banter. It was close to torture for Aurora. Her name might sound exotic, but she was anything but.
“Don’t be late.” And she ended the call before he could say anything else.
Men! Can’t live with ’em, can’t cart them off to the pound.
She grinned at the image of Storm and Jason Knight whimpering behind bars in a doggy prison. It would serve them right, though she’d never be able to do it. They’d just look at her with those… well, those puppy dog eyes, and she’d melt. Just like always.
She snapped her cell phone shut and continued on to their mansion. Executive Decisions had made them quite wealthy. Aurora wasn’t a pauper, but with her grandmother’s medical bills and both their living expenses it took every bit of her considerable salary just to keep going. She didn’t mind, though. She loved her work, and she enjoyed the banter between her and Storm and Jason. Frustrating though it might be.
True to her word, she pulled in front of the men’s house exactly ten minutes later. Twenty minutes later, she was dialing their number again with no results. Another ten minutes and several horn honks later, she was ringing the doorbell and pounding on the great oak door. The one time Darius sent them on a commercial flight instead of on one of the company’s jets and they were already a half an hour late.
But they were always late. Why hadn’t Darius sent them on a company jet? In the six years they’d worked for him, he’d never sent these two on a commercial flight for precisely this reason.
She looked at her watch. This was bad. Really bad. Darius had made it clear she had to get them Alaska-bound tonight. That gave them only one day to prepare because this date had requested they make all the preparations instead of her arriving first per the norm. He’d said she was a very special client and absolutely could not be disappointed.
Now they’d missed their flight, and she’d have to arrange for another one. These two puppies were going to be the death of her.
“Storm! Jason!” she shouted as she banged again. Her hand was beginning to hurt from the repeated strikes, and all thought about these two being sexy as sin fled from her mind. If they ever did come to the door, she’d likely pluck out their eyelashes one at a time.
“What’s with all the shouting?” Jason’s voice was right by her ear.
She spun around so fast, he couldn’t get out of her way in time, and she slammed her face right into his chest. In another situation, she might have been grateful, even leaned against him to play with the light dusting of springy, dark chest hair a little, but two things prevented that. One, she was supremely annoyed with the pair. Two, she mashed her nose so hard she saw stars.
She stumbled back a couple of steps, her hand automatically going to her injured nose, but Storm’s strong, sure hands steadied her. “If da two of you don quit neekin up on me, one a dees days I’m gonna fro bofe a ya in da pound.”
Jason snickered. He took her wrist gently and pulled it away from her face to examine her injury. “We’re sorry. But we weren’t sneaking. Honest.”
“You were just making so much noise you didn’t hear us.” Storm had his turn to inspect her face once Jason was finished. “You OK?”
“No, I’m not OK! Do you realize you’ve probably missed your flight? You may have enough money to retire and live the rest of your days in comfort, but I’ve got bills to meet. I need this job. Darius said this client wasn’t to be disappointed, and somehow I don’t think arriving late is going to impress her.”
“Ah, Aurora. Everything will be fine.” Jason took her elbow and steered her toward the limo. “If we get in trouble, we’ll take the blame.”
“Guys, it’s not that simple.” Trying to make a convincing argument for why they should grow up and at least be on time for once in their lives while trying to check departing flights from Lexington, Kentucky, to somewhere with a connecting flight to Anchorage, Alaska, was hard to do. Still, she was grateful for the snazzy phone that connected to the Internet at the touch of a button.
She’d just found what she was looking for when her phone beeped and went blank. She ducked behind the wheel and slammed the door, resisting the urge to scream by sheer force of will. She pressed the power button and the thing came back on, but with the persistent beep of a phone desperately in need of a charge.
Aurora immediately reached for her purse, an impending sense of doom washing over her. This couldn’t be happening. Not now.
No car charger.
She banged her head on the steering wheel. This just wasn’t her day. She lowered the glass separating her from the two werewolves and said, “I need a cell. Give me one of yours.”
Both of them stared at her with completely blank looks.
“A phone! I need a fricking phone!”
“She sounds a mite testy today, don’t you think, Storm?”
“Totally. Maybe she needs some werewolf mojo.” Jason’s grin was positively wicked, and Aurora was certain her face turned four shades of red. She ground her teeth.
“Listen. I’ve got to find you a flight out of either Lexington or Louisville tonight. Even if it’s a charter. Either way, I can’t do it without a phone, and mine’s dead.”
Storm clicked his tongue in a tsking manner. “Now, now. One should never come to work unprepared. Isn’t that what you’re always telling us?”
The pound was looking more like a perfectly acceptable option all the time. “Give. Me. A. Phone.” She fixed them with her most warning stare. If they didn’t stop playing around, she was definitely going to kill them both.
“You know, I think she’s serious.” Jason dug into his back pocket and fished out a tiny cell. Aurora snatched it from him and immediately raised the privacy glass so she didn’t have to listen to their chuckles.
One of these days…

Alyssa scowled at Markus Reynolds. The man was fucking insane if he thought she was going to boink him until the sun rose or help came. Neither would come fast enough for her, even if he was the hottest male she’d ever worked with.
He gave her a knowing look. “Look, it’s not like I want to fuck you, but we’ll freeze to death if we don’t.”
“No, we won’t. Most of the fuselage is still intact. I patched most of the tears, and sealed us off from the missing tail section. I used up the supplies we were supposed to deliver, but we’re not going to make it there anyway.”
“We’re not sure how long it’ll take for a rescue party to find us.”
“That might be due to the fact you wanted to fly over some stupid frozen lake.” She ignored the irritated expression on his face. She had a right to be irritated, not him. “You should have kept to the original flight plan.”
“It’s not my fault that engine stalled. I did a preflight check.”
“A lot of good that did us.” Alyssa crossed her arms and tried to flop into a more comfortable position on the raft she’d inflated for a makeshift bed. “If we build an igloo just right, we can start a fire without making it cave in on us.”
Markus laughed. He didn’t even try to hide how amusing he thought her idea was.
“It would work!” Before she could elaborate, her sister’s words came back to haunt her. On the eve before your thirty-third birthday you’ll need to spend the night making sex magick. By the morning your power will be at its fullest.
“Alyssa, be reasonable.”
“I’m trying, you jackass!”
“You’ve had the same training I have. We could build your igloo, if we had the time and strength. With my bum arm…” Markus looked down at his arm, hanging at his side.
She knew what he didn’t say. The bleeding hadn’t stopped. Perhaps his suggestion to have sex was because he was afraid he was going to bleed to death. She could save him. But she’d put herself at risk to do so. What a mess! Crashing in the Alaskan wilderness wasn’t the worst thing that had happened to her. It was just the most recent.

Thorn is not a newbie. He's been running all across the barren wastelands that make up what once was America since he was fifteen -- he knows his shit. He does not need one of the psychic kids running with him to save his neck, no sir. No matter how good Rae is at his job.
When their run goes incredibly wrong, and they narrowly manage to escape somewhere across the snow-capped mountains, Thorn has to admit that having someone along is not all that bad -- especially when Rae provides more fun ways of resisting the bitter cold…

The ground is hard, covered in pine needles, mud and dirty snow, but Thorn collapses face down on it as if it were a feather bed. His bones ache, a deep, dull throbbing that spreads from the small of his back all the way up his spine, making even thinking too difficult a job for him to accomplish right now.
He won’t even mention the cold -- after five hours and over three hundred miles flat on his bike zigzagging across the Junction with a gang of scavengers after their asses, he thinks it’s become embedded in of him. He can barely flex his fingers; the skin is so red and dry from lack of circulation.
“Well, that was fun.”
Thorn snorts. He raises his head half an inch from the ground, needles stuck to his cheek and into the side of his Mohawk. “Your life would be so dull without me, admit it.”
“No shit.” Piercing blue eyes twinkle back at him, and Rae sits down by his side, pushing wet, dark hair off his face. “It’s amazing how you revaluate boredom when your chances of survival drop under five percent.”
“That sounds way more dramatic than it was,” Thorn protests, pushing himself up on his elbows. “We did manage to get out of there alive, didn’t we?”
“Yep.” Rae nods very seriously. “Middle of fucking Nowhere, Bumfuck Colorado. With little to no gas and no provisions.”
“We got whiskey.”
Rae chuckles, wrapping his arms around his knees and pulling them against his chest in an effort to keep himself warm. “How many times? Whiskey is not a food group, buddy.”
Thorn shrugs. “Beats hibernation.”
“Now that was dramatic.”
“Was it?” Thorn smirks. “C’mon, do you have a better idea?”
“Start a fire, for instance,” Rae replies, glancing around the snow-covered ground. “There’s gotta be some wood we can use, just to last till morning.”
“Good luck finding anything dry,” Thorn snorts, finally pushing himself up to a sitting position. “Though I suppose we could use a few drops of gas to set the thing burning. You got a lighter?”
Rae makes a face. “No. We could get the wires to spark, though.”
Thorn glances over at their steeds, both of them looking the worse for wear but still standing proud under their cover of scratches and mud. “You want to risk it?”
Thorn knew what Rae’s answer was going to be before he’d uttered it, “Not really.” Touching anything on either of their bike’s engines would mean disrupting the fragile algorithm of tape, spit and prayer that held the shit in place, dropping the possibilities of putting it back together to somewhere below zero.
“But we have whiskey,” Thorn announces then, trying to sound bright and alert. He pulls a flask from under his jacket, the whiff of icy draught that hits his collarbone suggesting him to screw the cap open and gulp down some before handing it over to Rae. “We’ll manage.”

Love, lust, and revenge, woven through the twisted chaos of time…
Fighting for her life in Edinburgh's dark, dangerous streets, Miri stabs the wrong man -- and ends up in his arms, sparking a sequence of events that alters history, with catastrophic consequences.
Wrongfully exiled from his own dimension, Caratacus is determined to find a way home. But that’s going to be difficult using only nineteenth century steam technology -- even more difficult when distracted by the sort of steam he creates with Miri!
Before he can go home, he has to set things right. That means hunting down a Jack the Ripper copycat, prevent Robert Louis Stevenson from becoming an engineer, and help a brutal, game-playing civilization protect itself from cannibals -- all without destroying the intense but fragile love he's found with Miri.
After that, reversing time should be easy.

“You’re a funny bastard,” Campbell observed. “What will you do now? Will they let you back in to the university?”
Caratacus shrugged. “It doesn’t matter. I’ve learned all I need.”
They stared at him. “Trust me,” Dixon stated. “You need your degree.”
Caratacus only shrugged again, and glanced in his jug. “I’ve run out of beer.”
“Thirsty work down here,” Campbell agreed with a grin. “We’re going to Dixon’s. He’s got beer.”
“Come with us,” Dixon offered, poking Caratacus in the ribs.
Campbell threw his arm around Miri’s waist, hugging her to his side as he added, “But you might have to bring your own girl. Unless my miniature joy here --”
“I can’t,” Caratacus interrupted. “I’m busy.”
Something surged through Miri. She couldn’t work out if it was disappointment or relief. She rather liked being treated not like a whore. Except for some reason, it made her wonder how he would treat her body. If he had any interest in it. She was damaged goods, of course, but even respectable men didn’t find that so unattractive. After all, she knew how to please them.
With her head on Campbell’s shoulder, she regarded her host with more than a touch of regret. The beauty of his face, the strength of his body, all appealed to her. And his strangeness didn’t frighten her. It intrigued her.
But as they all made their way up the stone steps in front of him, his eyes neither sought her out nor avoided her with embarrassment. Which left her with the oddly lowering conclusion that he was polite but completely disinterested.
Unless he had no money? He probably spent it all on his ridiculous machine. And she had already sold herself to the other three students for a few coppers and a plate of soup.
Lost in thought, she started when her shawl landed on her shoulders. Glancing up, she saw Caratacus close behind her.
“You forgot it,” he said mildly. “And it’s cold outside.”
Her mind tricked her. It imagined his face without glasses, suffused with physical pleasure. It saw him naked behind her like this, but holding her, his clever, oil-stained hands on her breasts, while he pushed his cock inside her. And it felt good, better than…
She blinked the vision away. He still gazed at her, a faint, quizzical smile in his dark green eyes. She’d never seen eyes that precise color before. Perhaps it was a trick of the spectacles. Embarrassed, almost panicked by the heat coursing through her, she dropped her gaze.
Sometimes, I give free shots. You could have one.
He didn’t want her; he’d be disgusted. She couldn’t bear either reaction. Besides, he probably had a nice young lady waiting for him. She scurried after the others, forgetting to thank him for the shawl, and the bread and beer.
Only as Campbell dragged her out the front door did she recover enough to give Caratacus a smile and a wink over her shoulder. Though the door closed on him very quickly, she could almost have sworn he winked back.

When banned werewolf Jaron Dunmore has a chance encounter with gorgeous vampire Kirk Raynard and his human lover, Leann, he eagerly agrees to their sensual proposition. But their night of passion will give the lonely wolf a very unexpected gift…

Jaron Dunmore sat at his favorite table in Starbuck’s, his mocha gone cold and his newspaper unread. His heart yammered in his chest -- the result of both an undeniable attraction to a stranger and a blatant fear that he’d gone bonkers.
I’m gay. I like men. He’d told this mantra to his dick again and again. It wasn’t listening. Gay. Men. Love touching their chests and penises and muscled thighs. Love masculine lips on mine, male fingers stroking my flesh, and cocks in my hands, my mouth, my ass.
His gaze traveled around the interior of the small café until it once again landed on the tall brunette sitting at a corner table near the windows.
His cock reacted to the female. It got hard. Rod-of-steel hard. And the fantasies that his mind spun about that woman’s breasts! He’d never before had an urge to touch, much less taste any part of a woman.
Worst of all, he wanted to fuck her. He wanted to feel his cock inside her tight, wet pussy. Wanted to feel her breasts scrape his chest. Wanted to hear her breathy feminine moans in his ear.
His body rigid with the weird desire, Jaron gave up pretenses and stared openly at the woman. She wasn’t pretty. Not in a traditional sense. Her cheekbones were too high, her lips too full, her nose too thin. Yet there was a shimmering beauty about her. Abstract and untouchable. Goddess-like.
Lust heated his blood, thrummed through his balls and hardened his cock. Her flawless skin required little make-up. Her hair was the color of milk chocolate and her eyes were dark brown. She was tall and stacked and dressed for the cold weather in boots, jeans, sweater, and a leather jacket. She sipped her coffee and read a magazine.
She lifted her gaze and caught him in the act of checking her out. Schmuck! Get out of here before you do something really stupid.
He put on his coat and threw away the cold coffee and unread newspaper. As he reached to push open the glass door, he found long, pale fingers wrapped around his wrist. Startled, he looked into the gaze of the woman who had tilted his world on its axis.
“Hello,” she said. Her eyes sparkled with humor and intelligence and -- oh shit -- attraction. His gaze drifted down to the hand on his sleeve. Her nails were neatly trimmed and coated with clear polish. She liked all the wonderful feminine qualities of being a girl, but not in a way that showed off.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her smile revealing a dimple near her right cheek. “I didn’t realize you were mute.”
“I’m not,” he said. “But I am gay. Very gay.”
“That’s nice. Is stating your sexual preference part of introductions where you’re from?”

“Chance, we have a problem.”
Groaning, Chance focused his thoughts across the realms to see just what Brandon thought was wrong now. What’s wrong?
“Josh isn’t coming home tonight. The whole condo is set up with candles, streamers and confetti. Josh put a lot of time into arranging this for you, but the planes in New York are grounded. He can’t get home. He’s going to be crushed.”
Chance stole a glance at the condo through Brandon’s eyes and in the process caught a good solid taste of Brandon’s jealousy. He was touched by the effort that had gone into the preparations. He’d known from the beginning that Josh was the kind to care deeply, but this evidence just proved it.
He was in love with a hopeless romantic.
Stretching out on the bed he couldn’t help grinning at Josh and the weird thing they had together. How he wished he could be there, and everything could have been just as Josh wanted. But alas pops had him restricted to Abaddon and he couldn’t get to the condo even if Josh had been there waiting.
“What do you want me to do?”
Do? He didn’t know. He’d just have to wait until Josh got back and then they could celebrate properly. Go home, Brandon. There’s nothing we can do.
“What?” Annoyance echoed back across their connection. “Didn’t take you for a quitter, Chance. Instead of just accepting it, isn’t it more your style to make the situation work in your favor?”
If you have a suggestion, spit it out.
“If you can drag me to hell, why not take Josh, too?”
Ahhh… I could kiss you.
“Sounds good to me.”
Gather up Josh’s celebration and bring it all with you. The moment you get back here, I’ll kiss your socks off. Chance looked around the small apartment and tried to visualize the space with the festive additions. It wouldn’t be the same as Josh’s. But maybe it would be enough. His one regret was not having a hot tub to play in. But his huge bed would have to do. The bed actually took up most of his living area. The one large room held the entertainment center, the kitchenette, and his ancient four poster monstrosity. The room had a smallish bathroom and that was it. What more did he need?
“Food.”
Better grab any grub Josh has there too. I don’t have much here.
“Already got it. I’m ready to come back when you are.” Brandon’s voice jumped up an octave as he drew him back across the realms. This time he managed to deposit Brandon more gently. Only then did he realize the problem. He couldn’t bring Josh to Abaddon without making the first trip to Abaddon scary as hell. The mental connection might help but… “You have to go to New York to get Josh.”
Brandon’s mouth dropped open.
“No, never mind. That won’t work. If you get him, it’ll give away the surprise. Damn, I’ll have to ask George for a favor.”

One of his guards shouted and anger swept Garret’s desire aside. He had left orders that no one interrupt him. The scuffle continued and trepidation bled through his annoyance. Disentangling himself from his slaves, he shoved both women to the far side of the bed. All his conventional weapons were in his own room and he had just begun to feed.
The doors burst open and Sylina Tesch strode into the room, auburn hair whipping around her face as the door slammed behind her. “You left me there to die!”
Expecting an invading force and not a single woman, Garret laughed, then he lunged for her. She darted to his left, moving so fast she blurred. “How did you get in here?” How the hell had she found him? He’d moved his hideout twice since his run-in with Rhys. He gathered energy into the center of his being and launched it at her in an abrupt burst.
She neatly sidestepped the blast and said, “You’ll have to do better than that, but wait, you can’t. I interrupted your feeding. Didn’t anyone teach you the value of knowing your enemy?”
The haughty bitch! Who did she think she was? He summoned every slave in the house, projecting urgency along with the mental command. Footfalls echoed through the hallways, moving steadily closer. He could shift. He was stronger in his Setti form, but slower, and agility appeared to be her advantage. She’d timed her attack perfectly. He was naked, unarmed, and depleted.
The doors groaned as his slaves fought to obey his summons.
“Call them off,” she said calmly. “This is between you and me.”
“I don’t think so.” He glared at her. No one challenged a Setti shifter and lived.
“I know where Chevon is; now call them off.”
Shock ricocheted through his mind. If she was lying he’d kill her in her sleep! He halted his slaves, stationing them beyond the door. “I’m listening.”
She advanced toward the bed, her green eyes bright with indignation. “You literally sucked the life out of Lance and abandoned me to the enemy. I knew you were ruthless. I had no idea you were a coward.” He motioned his women toward the exit on the opposite side of the room. Sylina blocked their path. “They stay. I want to see how it’s done.”
Tension knotted his gut and he forced himself to swallow. In preparation for the battle that night five weeks ago, he’d gorged himself on energy then infused both Lance and Sylina with higher levels of Setti essence than he’d ever attempted before. If the actual infusion hadn’t killed her, the detoxification should have. Yet here she stood, making demands of him!
“You want to see how what’s done?” he asked. She couldn’t mean what he thought she meant. His slaves were gripped by sexual frenzy when he infused them. They never remembered exactly what transpired.
“Rhys said you were injecting me with some sort of chemical that made me highly susceptible to suggestion.” She took the blonde and shoved her toward the bed. “He said it’s extremely addictive. Is it in your semen or is there some other means by which you inject it? I want to watch you inject one of your slaves.”
“You’re no longer addicted, so why are you here?” He pulled the blonde behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her warm body against his back, oblivious to the conflict raging around her. The brunette was cowering in the corner, her knees drawn up to her chest, eyes glassy and unfocused.
He studied Sylina’s unrelenting expression. Why wasn’t she afraid? She’d seen his true form during his fight with Rhys. She should be terrified. Any human would be terrified.
“I have a proposition for you.”
He paused. Was this more than just morbid curiosity? She’d overpowered his guards and slammed the door with her mind. What other abilities was lovely Sylina hiding? “Tell me how to find Chevon.”
“First I want to know exactly what I’m dealing with.”
“Rhys explained all you need to know. I’m able to imbue humans with unusual abilities, but they often develop a certain dependency as a result.” He’d never been uncomfortable with his nudity, yet this confrontation had his face flaming and his hands itching to cover his crotch. Pride alone kept his shoulders squared and his arms at his sides. “Tell me how to find Chevon or I’ll --”
“You’ll be plagued by nightmares for the rest of your life.” Her lips parted in a cold, menacing smile. “When you’re able to sleep at all.”

Blurb:

Detective and werewolf Zack Elliott visits Last Call to satisfy his need to dominate, but it doesn’t satisfy his unrequited love for a woman he can’t have. Still, he’s managed to keep his desire for her under control… until a chance encounter in their apartment building sends him back to the bar for relief.

Iris has spent the last two decades living a strict life of self-denial as New York City’s only demon social worker. She lives in fear of the power inside her, and the dark needs that tempted her down a dangerous road before. But love and need are leading her down that path again, and her only hope is to give in to the man she loves and trust that he’s strong enough to keep her safe from the darkness inside.

Zack gritted his teeth, finished off his second whiskey, and glared at his companion, barely managing to feign polite interest. “So then what did you do?”
For a seventeen-hundred-year-old demon, Leo looked alarmingly whipped. “I introduced her to the damn demon. It was that, or get kicked out of my own bed.”
At least he wasn’t the only powerful man around who’d been brought to his knees by a human woman. “You realize how ridiculous that sounds, don’t you?”
“Yes.” Leo dragged his fingers through his blond, disheveled hair and sighed. “Fuck. If you tell anyone, I’m going to have to kill you.”
Zack wished he had another drink. He wished he hadn’t run into Leofric. He wished someone would order a damned Tequila Sunrise already, so he could go upstairs and forget the fact that he was still sleeping alone.
Instead, he sighed. “So, your sweet little girlfriend had a vision about some demon’s eternal damnation, and this was alarming to her? You’ve got her snowed, Leo.”
“Normally I’d agree, but Ianthe’s different. She’s…” For a second, Zack thought he saw regret in Leo’s eyes, but it was gone too fast to tell. “Shit, she makes me look like the poster boy of evil. I’m talking soup kitchens and feeding the homeless and who knows what else. If there were a back door out of the demon gig, she’d have taken it two hundred years ago.”
Something about the look on Leo’s face made Zack arch an eyebrow. “You introduced your new flame to an old one? You’re either brave or stupid, man.”
Leo blinked. “What? Oh, fuck no. No, I wouldn’t have fucked Ianthe for money back when she was the dark Queen of the Night, and she won’t do anyone now that she’s all sweet and good.” That obnoxious, irrepressible grin returned, the cocky one that had been tinged with far too much satisfaction since Leo had met Caitlin. “Trust me. I tried. For like, four decades.”
And he wouldn’t have bothered if she’d just put out. “Charming. No means no, Leo.”
“Fuck you, man. I know what no means.” The cell phone on the table in front of him went off, the vibrations making it dance across the table. Leo snatched it up and flipped it open, then grinned. “Cait’s on her way.”
The knot of misery in Zack’s gut twisted tighter. Leo looked happy, and he felt like an ass for wanting to run like hell before Caitlin’s arrival. Buck up, Elliott. You’re an ass, and you deserve to have to watch them make googly eyes at each other.
He should have remembered that the man seated next to him could sense the darkest desires of those around him more easily than breathing. Leo’s green eyes looked almost sympathetic as he shifted and reached into his back pocket. “It’s getting bad, isn’t it?”
Self-denial made him grumpy. “Stay out of my head.”
Leo flipped a credit card onto the table. “Man, I’m not even in your damn head. Every demon within ten feet of you knows what you need. And that could get awkward when Cait shows up with Ianthe, considering her past.”
Zack turned his attention to the bar in the middle of the room. “You want me gone before they get here.”
“You want to be gone before they get here,” Leo countered. “Even I can tell that much. But hey, you could stick around and hit on the reformed demon. Back in the eighteenth century you would have been just her type.”
“No, thanks.” Even if a demon could offer the sort of submission he sought, it would be tied up in complicated power struggles and manipulation. He reached over and nudged Leo’s credit card across the table. “I can buy my own drinks, though. It’ll be worth it not to have to watch you be schmoopy with your girlfriend.”
Leo flashed him a grin. “Go on, Elliot. Order your damn drink. I’ll catch you next time you come through.”
“Yeah, sure.” Zack rose, determined to get the hell upstairs before Caitlin showed up with anyone who might want to hit on him.
Surprisingly, he wasn’t in the mood to play nice.

ISBN (13): 978-1-60521-174-9
Genre(s): Paranormal, Dark Fantasy, BDSM
Theme(s): Gay and Lesbian
Series: Chance
Length: Novella

Blurb:

What does a demon give his mortal lover for their one-year anniversary?
Chance knows exactly what Josh wants -- his former lover, Brandon. The three can be happy together, but only if Brandon is willing to share… All Chance has to do is push Brandon to the limits -- and prove he’s worth the risk.
The perfect gift. That’s what Chance needs. And in this case that elusive item would be a silly, reluctant mortal gift-wrapped with a big bow.
This title is fourth in the Chance series, preceded by A Snowball's Chance, Second Chance, and Another Chance. Chance of a Lifetime follows this installment.

Brandon tossed his keys and cell phone into a bowl by the door and turned. He jerked upright at the sight of Chance lounging against his kitchenette counter. “What are you doing here?”
Chance smiled. “I’m drinking your beer.” He raised the bottle as if in toast.
“On second thought I don’t care why you’re here. Get out.” Brandon shrugged out of his coat and hung it up. “Don’t you have to be invited in or something?”
“That’s vampires.”
“So spawn of the devil can walk in anytime? Nice.”
“I’m not sure about the other spawn, but I can come and go as I please.”
“Whatever.” Brandon glanced toward the fridge but didn’t move any closer. “I wish it would please you to get the hell out.”
The demon snagged another beer from the fridge and slid it to toward Brandon. “It doesn’t. At least not yet.”
Brandon hesitated, then picked up the bottle, opening it with a quick twist. “Then deliver whatever threat you’ve come to say and then leave me the fuck alone.”
“Threat? You assume I’ve come here to threaten you?”
Brandon flinched at the demon’s angry snarl. “Since you haven’t tried to kill me, I’m assuming you’ve come to threaten to do so.”
The demon stalked across the room toward Brandon, his dancing flames shifted colors going from pale gold to dark red and back in waves. “You need to lose the attitude and get something straight, mortal. I have done nothing to you, and I came here in good faith.”
Brandon wanted to run, but damn it, this was his apartment. Holding his ground became harder and harder as the demon approached and the air warmed around him. “Nothing you do will change the past I had with Josh.” That had to be why the demon was here. That little scene with Josh at the cabin had shown just how important their now dead relationship had been before Chance forced his way into Josh’s life. He backed away, but not fast enough.
It caught him by the arms and anchored him in place, looking him in the face. “I’m not here to kill you, or even threaten you.”
“Right…” As if he could trust the word of a demon. But if it wasn’t lying, then why was it here? “What do you want?”
The demon released him as suddenly as it had advanced. Its oddly entrancing flames shrank until they were little more than swirls of color dancing over the creature’s bare chest. “I want Josh to be happy, and apparently that requires you.”
“Huh?” Shocked, Brandon stared at the creature. What did it mean? It sounded almost as if… but no, why would it offer him the opportunity to fix things with Josh? He swallowed down a lump of emotion. “I… Yes, I want Josh to be happy too.”
“I thought as much.”
“Does that mean you’ll leave him alone?”
“Fuck no. I need him too much.” The thing paced back and forth next to the kitchen counter. “I won’t give him up. He wouldn’t want that anyway.”
“How do you know what he wants?”
“Unlike some selfish bastards, I asked him.” It pushed the glowing hair back from its face -- its unnaturally handsome face. “But I’m here about you and Josh. I know how you feel about him. I know how he feels about you.”
“But you still won’t get out of our lives.”
“No, I won’t.”
“If you intend to intrude no matter what, why are you here?”
It gave a long suffering sigh. “I won’t give him up, but I might consider sharing… on one condition.”

The necklace of rubies lay heavy against my collarbone, its probes already digging into my flesh. I stared at my reflection in the black window, the stones seeming to leech all the blood from my skin until I stood stark and white, angry and afraid.
At my feet lay the Emperor’s dead concubine, her blood staining my hand. In the doorway were three dead Imperial soldiers.
And behind me stood John Carver, his sword still dripping.
“Well,” he said, “now you’ve done it.”
“They can’t transmit from here,” I said, my heart thumping. A piece of plastic slithered loose from the cracked monitor on the wall and pattered on the floor. “The EMP --”
The house shook with the force of another mortar blast, cracking the window in half. The electromagnetic pulse had killed anything with an electric circuit within a few miles, but the necklace hadn’t been within that radius at the time. As soon as it went near a functioning transmitter, the Empire would know.
“Aye, well, then you can stay here out of the Emperor’s grasp, and die, or you can flee, and live.”
The rubies glowed in the dim light of the broken screens. I looked like a corpse standing in the wreck of my house, blue light flickering over white skin and darkening the blood on my clothes.
“He’ll find me, Carver. As soon as the necklace starts transmitting, he’ll find me.” I glanced down at the dead woman, claw marks livid against her skin.
“You could have stopped her before she locked it around your neck,” Carver said, tensing as the building shook again. He grabbed a fold of the concubine’s clothing and wiped off his sword.
But I stared back at my own dark eyes, feeling tears gather. To my right was a scorched spot on the wall that I couldn’t even explain to Carver. Not yet. “No. The necklace knew me, Carver. He sent it for me.”
The house shook, and dust fell from the ceiling. Cracks shimmered into life on the walls, and Carver grabbed my arm and yanked me away from the window before it split open and shattered inward, toward me.
“The necklace couldn’t know you,” he said, dragging me toward the door. “It’s never sampled your DNA before.”
But I was shaking my head, tears dripping down my face as we sidestepped the rubble and ventured for the stairs. Carver didn’t turn to look at me until we’d reached the bottom, and then I saw the realization come into his eyes.
“You’ve worn it before,” he said.
The walls shook and danced, and shards of stone clattering against my back.
“I didn’t realize,” I whispered. “I said I’d be his if I wasn’t married.” And the Emperor had laughed. “Carver, I was nineteen. I thought he was joking.”
Carver shook his head, eyes narrowed in disgust. The metal of his arm glinted in the moonlight. The scar across his eye twisted his face into something horrible. Carver the mercenary, Carver the taker of unwilling women, Carver the killer.
“You stupid girl,” he said, but as the house shuddered and groaned, he wrapped an arm around me and sheltered me from the rubble. “Let’s go.”

When Kassie’s big-shot boyfriend dumps her, she slinks back to her isolated hometown to lick her wounds in private. But a well-endowed snowman and a reunion with an old flame makes sure her homecoming sizzles with passion.

Excerpt:
Kassie stepped back and studied her masterpiece. She'd taken the art of snow sculpting to a completely new level. Her snowman was a snowwoman – with all the anatomical parts to prove it. Pert, up-tilted breasts with naughtily pebbled nipples adorned the snowy chest while curvaceous hips narrowed down to a smoothly shaved pussy.
She snickered at the thought of Gerald William Dwyer, of Dwyer, Dwyer and Sons, Inc., driving up to her little house and seeing the very unladylike snowperson in her yard. Of course, that wasn't likely to happen. He'd be too busy with the little tart he'd dropped her for. After all the effort she'd put into being the perfect little lady just to please him, he'd dumped her for an over-painted, underdressed bimbo.
She shivered as the cold started to penetrate her winter clothing. Dusting the snowflakes off her leggings, she headed back inside.
The little house wasn't much, just a three-room cabin in the frozen bush of Northern Ontario, but it was hers. Thank goodness, she wasn't prone to cabin fever. She'd grown up here, attending school in the small town down the road. She'd dreamed of what she'd do when she grew up and left to conquer the world, but she'd never appreciated its isolation as much as she had in the past couple of weeks, while she hid from the world to lick her wounds and kick herself forever trying to change just to please a man.
Shedding the layers of heavy winter clothing, she stirred the coals in the woodstove and added another piece of birch wood before curling up on the sofa with her book.

Nevada has been working so hard she’s exhausted. Lucian is determined to get her to rest -- even if he has to kidnap her and tie her to the bed to do it.

Excerpt:

Nevada moaned, waking up to the most pleasant sensation. Vibrations trailed up and down the lips of her pussy. Moaning again, she tried to move closer to the feeling but found she could only go so far. She tried to move again but nothing. Her arms were stretched over her head, cool steel bit into her wrists. She tried to move her legs. Something soft and smooth was wrapped around her ankles. Opening her eyes she saw nothing but darkness. Panic made her struggle. She couldn't move.
"Lucian?" she cried out, fear causing her heart to beat rapidly. The vibrations continued, this time rimming around the entrance to her core. "Lucian?"
"Calm down, oraia, it's me, Luc," Lucian replied, his voice husky. She felt warm, moist air blow against her pussy and writhed, clit throbbing with need.
"What's going on?" she demanded.
"You've been naughty. And I have a nice sack of toys to help me punish you."
"What the hell are you talking about? Did you tie me to the bed?"
"Yes, and you will continue to remain bound to the bed until I decide you've been good."

“Julie, I don’t understand you. He’s rich, intelligent, sexy and he likes you.”
Julie Youngman shook her head at her cousin Sallie. “He’s a layabout. Doesn’t have a job. Lives off his father’s money, and got sent down from University for spray painting the master’s car purple.” She skipped over the sexy bit. No arguing there. Ian Bennett was the ultimate in bedworthy. But was he her type?
Even if he was, she wasn’t getting involved with an idler.
“Stop being such a stick in the mud. I could tell a few stories about what you did at Uni. What about the time you and the person whose name we never mention put condoms on every single finger of the Founder’s statue?”
“Oh, come off it.”
“Honest, Julie. Men like him don’t drop into your lap every day of the week. Damn, I’d grab him if he showed the slightest interest.”
“You can have him.” The words came easily, but if Sallie as much as crooked her little finger at Ian, Julie knew darn well she’d go for her like a wild thing.
Seemed Sallie was well aware of that. “I’m not the one he fancies. No one ever sent me chocs like these.” She reached into the box and took another.
That much was true. Julie grabbed one, too, and bit down. Coffee cream with hazelnut. Sallie was right. Wasn’t every week she received boxes of handmade chocolates, delivered by courier. Wasn’t every week she had to cope with Ian Bennett either.
Thing was, Julie thought as she let the tastes of coffee, hazelnut and bitter chocolate meld in her mouth, Ian’s pursuit did flatter her. She’d be less than human if it didn’t, but it also scared the willies out of her. Having fantasies of ardent pursuit by an apparently dominant man was one thing. Actually having to cope with the reality and the ultimate disappointment was another.
Mind you, expensive chocs -- the next one was toasted almond with liquid toffee -- weren’t to be sneezed at.
“So,” Sally asked, eyeing the square one with a crystalized violet on the top, “do you think that’s a cream, and are you going out with him again?”
“I haven’t been out with him once. Yet.” Getting chatted up at a wedding didn’t count.
“But you will, won’t you?”
Yes, she would, but she wasn’t quite ready to admit that out loud. “Hell if I know. Don’t you have to get to work?”
Her cousin grinned at her. “Yes, love. I’ll be off. Give you lots of privacy for when Mr. Sexy Ian calls.”
Only he didn’t call. No doubt waiting for her to call with profuse thanks for the three million calories in a satin and lace covered box. Black satin and lace actually, and shaped like a corset, now if that wasn’t a statement of intent and interest, what was?
Darned if she knew. And did it matter? She’d been on a man free diet for nearly three years. Time to get her feet back in the water, so to speak. Seemed Ian Bennett was offering himself for the job. She’d ignore his overwhelming dominance -- which could be just her imagination after all -- and pretend he was just a nice chap wanting to take her out.
But she still wasn’t quite ready to pick up the phone and hear his slow, sexy voice.
She turned on her computer and sent him a polite thank you e-mail. Social niceties satisfied, Julie had another chocolate -- maple walnut this time -- and made herself a cup of mint tea. Savoring the aroma, she curled up on her sofa and thought long and hard about what to do about Ian Bennett.

Dimly, I heard a swishing and then a perky voice said, “Welcome to Cravings, where we satisfy. Did you say something about five hundred pens? We don’t have those kinds of molds here, but I do have an order of…” The voice paused. I’m guessing this was when she noticed me bent over in agony. “Heavens, are you all right? Should I call a mediflitter?” Alarm froze her features as she looked at the disarray of platters. “Was it the samples?”
Her soft Earth-accented voice washed over me, negating the pain. Cautiously, stiff from the suffering, I eased into an upright position, tearing eyes locking on -- Oh, Adrona singing! -- my mate!
I shook my head, still unable to speak.
It hadn’t been the scent of chocolate doubling me over. It was inhaling the pheromones of my biological and spiritual match. The pain had been my body realigning itself, coming into synchronous alignment with the one female destined to complete me. And I, her. Shocked, mouth agape, I stared at a vision of… Humanness. Not exactly what I’d been raised to expect, yet I found her differences enticing.
Short compared to me, lushly curved and brown all over -- not a color naturally occurring among my people, her brown hair was a shiny nimbus of soft curls about her dark face. Lively deep brown eyes sat above a flaring nose and thick lips shining a deep, sleek brown. Brother of Winds, I wanted to bite that lower, pouty cushion, sink my forefangs right into it. And… ah, her breasts!
She probably thought them primly hidden beneath her blouse, but my visual range encompasses the infrared, and the full rounded bounty of flesh, the two meaty little nipples standing so sweetly at attention were fully visible to me. I wanted to eat her up.

Foxy Lady… Reyna’s a skilled thief and the lightest-fingered pickpocket around. Several professionals would love to have her on their side, if only to be able to keep an eye on her. What they don’t know is that Reyna’s nickname isn’t just fantasy -- she’s a shapeshifting fox and as clever and wily as they come. Jonas, Si and Boone, lovers as well as skilled tricksters, have the Fox’s scent and they intend to woo her, outsmart her and win her to their team. As Fox Hounds in name as well as in shapeshifting nature, they know they’re just as good at getting the job done as Reyna is. All they have to do is catch this thief and get her not only on their side, but in their shared bed.
And they won’t give up until the get the job done.

Three dogs climbing from an alley to the third-floor balcony of a nightclub would, Jonas knew, have raised a few eyebrows. If anyone had been around to see what happened next, they’d probably have fainted.
Three dogs clustered together on the roof, nosing one another in approval. One morphic flash later -- a sight that’d make any human’s eyes water and their head ache -- and three men crouched above the club -- and more importantly, beneath a window.
Jonas tested the surface of the glass. “Bulletproof and cutter-proof. Gotta hand it to the owners. They think they know their security.”
“Want to try the lock picks?” Si patted his pocket. He’d concealed his tools so well that unless someone stripped him bare they wouldn’t have known he had anything more dangerous on him than his charming smile.
“No.” Jonas studied the window. He rolled his sleeves up to mid-forearm. “I think this might just work better.” He lifted and the window rose smoothly as silk. The ripe scent of perfume, gin and sex from the club rolled out in powerful waves. “It’s like they bathe in it. Eau de Horny.”
Si wasn’t listening. “Wait, the window’s unlocked? No alarms, no sirens, no pepper gas booby traps? Someone knew we were coming.”
“I’d say it’s likely. I’d even say it was the Fox.”
Si swore softly and with great respect.
“Sounds like she’s throwing a party to welcome us, too. Listen to that racket, would you? No better place to hide than in a crowd,” Jonas said. “Nothing beats a classy lady except a crafty classy dame.”
“There’s got to be at least a hundred people in there,” Boone said in awe. He bumped shoulders with Si and head-butted Jonas in the arm. “Do you think they know what she is?”
“Doubtful. The Fox likes playing human.” Jonas scratched idly behind Boone’s ear. “Besides, doesn’t matter. She’s led us on a wild chase, but the end game is going to be one hundred percent worth it. Two forms and they both have their uses, boys. We found the Fox’s current den on all fours, and now we sweep her off her feet as men.”
“So you say. I don’t think it’s going to be that easy,” Si objected. “Fox is the best thief on the West Coast, acknowledged by all, so God only knows how many offers --”
“And threats,” Boone butted in soberly.
“-- and threats,” Si agreed, “she must have turned down before us. I’d bet dozens have tried and failed to get her on their low-down teams.”
“Probably, but they’re not us.” Jonas lifted the window fully open. Sufficiently tall and wide enough to admit three full-grown conmen, even if one of them was Boone, who’d played fullback before his teammates became aware of his half-canine nature and drop-kicked him off the team. “Here’s where the hunt really gets fun. Trust me. Have I ever led you wrong?”
Si grumbled under his breath, then said, louder, “You know, someday you’re going to be wrong. I just hope I’m fast enough to stay ahead of the shock wave of shit when that day comes along.”
“You know how I know you love the biz?” Jonas ruminated. “The happier you get, the louder you complain. Right now, you’re almost ecstatic. You’d shrivel up and die without this to keep you feeling lively. That, and you think the sun rises and sets on me.”
“Don’t push your luck.”
“I never stop. Life without risk isn’t life at all.” Jonas nuzzled the corner of Si’s mouth. “Don’t try to con a conman.”
Si rolled his eyes, but despite that he bit and licked at Jonas’s lips, teasing him around for a proper kiss, dirty, wet, tongues sliding together.
“Careful you two don’t get carried away and fall,” Boone rumbled, ever protective even when amused. “It’s a long way down and even shapeshifters go splat.”
“Yep, that’ll kill the mood.” Si nudged Boone’s chest. Lightly.
“Settle down, boys.” Jonas poked his head through the window to assess the room beyond. “Empty. I’m betting it’s for storage. Sounds like the party’s directly below, too.”
“A room full of L.A.’s brightest and most beautiful pretending to be bad boys and girls,” Si said. “I like it.”
“I like the chase.” Jonas breathed in, searching for a trace of the Fox’s unique, tantalizing scent. “Once we’re inside, you follow my every signal. This is a three-pronged attack and I need you both sharp if we want the Fox to take our bait.”
“You honestly think we have a shot at getting her on our team?” Boone asked dubiously.
Jonas turned, his balance perfect, to take Boone by the nape and kiss him quiet. “That was for luck, but if you ask me, I think we have as good a chance as any. Maybe better. We have something she wants. You lose all the battles you don’t even try to win.”
Boone grinned big and bright. “That’s good enough for me.”
“I knew I could count on you.” Jonas held out his fist for his hounds to bump knuckles on. “One for all, and all for one. Let’s catch ourselves a Fox.”
